Description:

In this volume we have put together a number of structuralist reconstructions of more or less 'simple' scientific theories from various disciplines.

By simple theories we mean theories that can be described and understood basically with (almost) no reference either to their development in historical time or to their being 'parts' of larger compounds or families of theories, which, in structuralist terminology, have been called 'theory-nets', 'theory-evolutions', and 'theory-holons' (see Architectonic' Chs. IV, V, and VI).

Concentrating on simple theories docs not imply any evaluation with regard to the more complex units.
